Today at Tesla Motors’ Fremont, Calif. assembly plant, three workers were scalded by hot metal and transported to a San Jose burn unit.

“There was a failure in a low pressure aluminum casting press. Three employees were injured by hot metal from that press,” said Tesla Communications Director Liz Jarvis-Shean in a statement. “We are making sure that they receive the best possible care.”

The statement was sent via email in part to counter initial reports suggesting the burns had resulted from a fire or explosion.

Local news affiliate, NBC Bay Area reported also that Cal-OSHA was contacted around noon, and will follow up.

The injured workers have been hospitalized at the local Valley Medical Center and neither involved authorities nor Tesla have offered any further details.
