Mixed reports on Tesla’s China sales have been mostly one of challenges and difficulties, and the latest is Tesla is cutting staff in that country by 30 percent.

According to China’s DONews, an anonymous company insider says 180-200 jobs will be eliminated in China although Tesla has not officially confirmed this.

Tesla might have sold 120 Model S sedans in January according to Reuters but here too, Tesla does not make its monthly sales transparent as do other automakers.

Issues confronting Tesla in China according to CEO Elon Musk have included difficulty in locating suitable charging. The company has also seen personnel changes at the top of its Chinese leadership.
