Jaguar-Land Rover plans for a massive investment into electric cars and associated electrification technology. The first of many electrified vehicles is reportedly set to launch in early 2019.

Autocar reported Monday that the 2019 Land Rover Evoque will include a plug-in hybrid model. The plug-in SUV should provide meaningful electric range with a three-cylinder internal-combustion engine complimenting a battery pack and electric motor. It’s unclear how large of a battery the Evoque plug-in will feature, however.

Although the internals remain mostly a mystery, the SUV should use a 48-volt electrical system to handle a stop-start system for the engine.

The new Evoque is expected to debut at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show in November before going on sale in early 2019. It will be the first of other plug-in Land Rovers that should come about a year after the Evoque plug-in’s launch.

In the grander scheme of things, Land Rover will introduce four new models by 2023 and redesign every vehicle in its current lineup by 2024. Expect a skew toward hybrids and electrification with each new introduction.
