Swedish supercar maker Koenigsegg has teased its replacement for the Agera at the grand opening of a new dealership in Australia.

The company led by Christian von Koenigsegg celebrated the opening of its first showroom in Australia over the weekend, which will be operated by luxury and exotic car dealer Lorbek Luxury Cars. A special ceremony was held to mark the opening of the new storefront, where attendees were shown the above sketch. The teaser image is an early preview of Koenigsegg’s replacement for the much loved Agera, production of which concluded earlier this year.

“As all Regeras were sold prior to Koenigsegg’s arrival in Australia, this eagerly anticipated new vehicle – due for its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2019 – is the only new model available to Australian buyers at present,” the automaker said in a released. “Keen customers also had access to the same virtual-reality presentation of the vehicle that was made available to VIP’s at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.”

The teaser image shows the rear of the vehicle, revealing a prominent diffuser and a massive rear wing. The vehicle appears to feature a similarly shaped rear end as the 1,497 hp Regera, but unlike that insane Koenigsegg hybrid, this car has clearly been designed for track use with such a large a wing affixed to its rear. There’s also no exhaust outlet, which could mean we’re looking at a pure EV. Then again, Koenigsegg may just be playing its cards close to its chest and purposely leaving out such details.

It does seem likely the model we’re looking at here will be electrified in some way – it’s the easiest way for a company like Koenigsegg to keep up with its competition.

More information on this mysterious new Koenigsegg will hopefully become available ahead of its debut next spring.
