Team China Racing, competing in the soon to begin Formula E championship, has announced a joint partnership with Henkel.

Henkel is known as a supplier of high-tech automotive adhesive solutions; the company said it helps promote development in the electric vehicle field.

Team China Racing stated it has partnered with Henkel as its exclusive adhesive supplier because Henkel has advanced technologies specially designed for electric vehicles, which will help keep Team China on the cutting edge of innovation to adapt to Formula E’s new era.

Henkel supported Team China in the fifth and final test on August 19 by providing race-side technicians and experts, said the racing team.

Henkel stated the series gives the company an excellent opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability and showcase its innovative solutions for the automotive electrical/electronic systems and alternative energy vehicle systems. These solutions, continued Henkel, contribute to lightweight design, optimal manufacturing process, cost efficiency and sustainability.

Formula E is the FIA’s first sustainable global motorsport championship featuring Formula cars powered exclusively by electric energy.

The championship begins in September 2014 in Beijing and continues through June 2015; it includes street circuits in 10 cities including London, and Los Angeles. Formula E said the new championship is designed to appeal to a new generation of motorsport fans while showcasing and promoting sustainable technology for the environment.

“It is a great opportunity for Henkel and Team China to cooperate in this historic first season of the FIA Formula E Championship to help people understand what electric vehicles are capable of. The future of electric vehicle is limitless, and Henkel is determined to make rapid progress towards the sustainable technologies and applications,” said Claire Zhou, Head of Marketing Asia Pacific, and Echo Liu, AT Marketing Communication Manager.

As sustainability becomes a global trend and concern, development in clean technologies is welcomed by governments, and China has enormous potential for the expansion of electric vehicles as a tool to address the issue of urban pollutions, said the adhesive company. Henkel added it believes the partnership with Team China Racing in Formula E will provide the perfect platform to increase public awareness about electric vehicles and accelerate the development of relevant technologies in future automotive industry.
