extra battery
an extra battery would be nice.
I don't think it will ever be in a do it yourself kit though.
The battery in the vehicle has enough volts and amps to crispy fry someone dead.
It would probably be a certified shop only kind of item.

Calcars is working on putting together an open-source do-it-yourself conversion kit for the Prius that will likely extend to the Highlander in the future.
Today, this isn't a simple task unless you are an electronics and computer wiz who is willing to risk your new car and put a lot of effort into it.
See http://www.calcars.org/howtoget.html for more info.

I'm still waiting for a PHEV
I'm still waiting for a PHEV conversion, extra battery or even a charger for the original OEM battery to plug in at home. Does anyone know if any of these options are available for the 06 highlander?
