Bob Lutz is often called “father of the Volt” but claiming that that title too is Tony Posawatz, now a consultant at large, who was added to the board of directors for telematics company INRIX.

Posawatz was the vehicle line director of the Volt during its development years through production, left GM, then took over Fisker which was sold to Wanxiang, a giant Chinese concern.

As CEO of Invictus iCar LLC, a company he founded, the 30-year GM veteran has other leadership roles, including with a startup in the energy storage space, and with Momentum Dynamics wireless vehicle charging innovator and ALTe series hybrid retrofitter.

Invictus Icar provides traffic data to navigation systems, and Posawatz sent us the announcement of his appointment to the Washington state based company.

“Tony’s experience leading the automotive industry forward through the adoption of breakthrough technologies is invaluable to INRIX as we expand collaboration with automakers beyond traffic to a variety of other data-driven services in the Connected Car,” said INRIX CEO Bryan Mistele.
