Porsche has provided a preview of its Mission E Cross Turismo in a first drive video.

Narrated by Roadshow editor-in-chief Tim Steven, the clip cuts to a show floor description before taking it to Malibu, California’s winding canyon roads for a test drive alongside a police escort, following instructions to “keep the speed down” and “not slam the door too hard.”

A direct competitor to Tesla’s Model S, Porsche’s upcoming Mission E Cross Turismo runs on its own dedicated platform, J1, using 800-volt technology which promises half the charge time of Teslas at 15 minutes using Porsche’s 350-kilowatt Recharging System. It will also be powered by twin electric motors for 592 horsepower, with a 3.5-second 0-62 acceleration time, all-wheel-drive, and 310-mile range, according to the European NEDC cycle’s generous projections.

In terms of cost, many speculate it will be priced in between the Cayenne and Panamera, upwards of $100,000.
