Eazy Bike, a Swedish startup that develops kits turning any bicycle into an electric bike, is now on Indiegogo to raise funds for a first production run of approximately 9,000 kits.

As of Wednesday morning, roughly $27,000 has been raised from 137 backers, or 69 percent of its $40,000 goal with more than a month remaining. As is popular with the Indiegogo crowdfunding platform, several perks are up for grabs depending on one’s contribution amount. A $20 donation promises an Eazy Bike charger and a $29 donation awards an optional thumb throttle.

Backers also have the option of purchasing the Eazy Bike with limited early bird discounts and family packs of two to four bikes, with the choice of U.S. or European versions.

“For many, biking is the best way to get around. The problem? We don’t love arriving at our destination out of breath, sweaty and exhausted. Uphill, wind, age, and fitness are also obstacles that make biking less enjoyable for many,” said EAZY Bike founder, Alexander Lundqvist. “EAZY Bike is the perfect solution. You can lean back and relax; you now have the peace of mind to bike anywhere you wait with minimal effort. Why do the hard work yourself? Let EAZY Bike do it.”

Eazy Bike’s Indiegogo page lists many advantages over its competition, your average Joe bike. Using a battery and motor that installs to your frame and between the pedal and back wheel in under two minutes, Eazy Bike-equipped bikes are capable of cruising at a top speed of 20-mph for the U.S. version and top speed of 16-mph for the European version. Pricing is also of note, with the company citing its cost as being one-tenth of a fully configured e-bike.

Additional specifications include a full recharge in two to three hours along with a friction roller drive which shifts the rider’s weight away from the wheels and towards the middle for improved weight distribution and ride.
