Ford
Ford has in ways been a paradox when it comes to hybrids and other alternative cars. Company executives in the last decade were making big promises for green cars, breaking those promises, and then finally delivering vehicles that show real technology leadership among American car companies. In the last couple of years, the company has launched truly competitive full hybrids to trade places in the monthly sales wars with Toyota, and Ford’s plug-in Energi hybrids are gaining ground as well. There has been a roller coaster ride publicity wise for the company which has had to readjust its EPA numbers, but the cars (and Ford’s one Focus Electric) show promise, and stand on merits despite less than perfect sailing in their respective market launches.
