Gearheads swapping engines for something larger or more powerful isn’t anything new. Seeing a car’s engine swapped for an electric powertrain, however, isn’t as common.

This Audi S5 may be the first of its kind to ever receive an electric powertrain swap, and the ruenning gear comes straight from a Tesla Model S. According to the video, all 16 battery modules fit into the S5 and the electric motor and inverter were split and installed at the front of the car.

We’re ballparking the model year of this particular Audi S5, but it appears to be an early 2010s model, and we spot a “V8” badge on the side of the car. With the 4.2-liter V8 engine, the S5 once made 354 horsepower. With the Model S’ electric motor and battery, the car is now making almost 400 horsepower at the wheels and nearly 450 pound-feet of torque. And that’s instant torque ready on-demand with the tip of the accelerator pedal.

As electric powertrains become more advanced, we’ll likely continue to see more swaps like this one here. Have a look at the car in the video.
