This car makes no sense here, and that is why no one is buying it… they even make a performance R50 for Europe which bumps horsepower to around 500, but will never see the light of day here. addiction to petroleum.

In order to achive this long term goal.

We need a ” bridge vehicle” that can get
max MPG and be put in production
promptly in order to reduce petroleum
consumption dramatically in a short
period of time.

I propose that this vehicle be a
PLUG IN- HYBRID DIESEL with
a Solar panel on the rooftop.

A vehicle such such as this depending on weight — should probably achieve
70-100 MPG depending on how it is driven.

This could probably reduce imports of petroleum in this county in half.

Hopefully, our new administration will
put some of these stimulus dollars to
help develop and market this proposed vehicle.

If Volkswagen can get this to market with these MPG figures and a comparable price to a Highlander Hybrid (mid $30s), Toyota will have competition on one more front. We’ll see if the next generation of Toyota hybrids have an improvement in MPG. (The prius went up by barely 10%.)
