"World's First Hybrid Taxi" (Video)

“World’s First Hybrid Taxi,” produced by Toyota Canada in 2004, is a five-minute video profile of Andrew Grant, who used a Prius as a taxi in Vancouver from 2001 until 2004.

During his time as a hybrid taxi driver, Andrew put on the equivalent of one year’s worth of driving in one month. Over three years, he incurred approximately 500,000 kilometers behind the wheel of a Prius. With this amount of use, Andrew is able to speak with authority about the Prius’s durability, reliability, maintenance cost, fuel economy, cold weather driving, cargo space, and drivability.

Andrew's 2004 Prius exceeded 310,000 km (186,000 miles). Andrew is currently taking a break from taxi driving.
