The Prius C sounds what I have been looking for. I hope the dealer will work with me when ordering the Prius C level 2. I would prefer the single fold down rear seat opposed to the split rear seat. As with the other Prii, I wish that Toyota would offer as an option a booster battery that could be plugged into the primary battery. Vehicle owner's like me rarely have passengers and would opt for increased battery power. Having an option to plugin extra battery power would serve those of us that are in the minority.

Sitting in the car at the auto show was a downer. It is very cheaply made inside. Most would be better off with a slightly used Prius if they really want something from the Prius family..
Thanks for reading. I believe the mistake is not ours. Please read the sentence again:

"The Prius c clocks in at 53 mpg city/46 highway and 50 combined compared to the first model’s 42/41/41 rating."

The first generation Prius launched in the U.S. is what this is referring to. You gave a link for the 2012 Prius. A dead giveaway that the sentence was not referring to the 2012 Liftback is it compares the 1.5-liter powertrain of the first Prius to the c. The current Liftback uses a 1.8-liter engine.

Cheers.

I believe there is a typo in your first paragraph which mistakenly claims that the first Prius has 42/41/41 city/highway/combined fuel economy numbers from the EPA, however they are actually 51/48/50 (http://fueleconomy.gov/feg/Find.do?action=sbs&id=31767). The numbers you quoted resemble the Prius V of 44/40/42 (http://fueleconomy.gov/feg/Find.do?action=sbs&id=31836).
