Nissan Altima Hybrid

I own an '09 NAH. It currently has approx 33,500 km (20,815 miles) on it.

Over the past week or two, I've noticed a noise coming from the car when I'm driving at city speeds (50km - 60 km/hr/30 - 35 miph). It sounds like a "whirring" noise and is there whether I'm in Hybrid mode or gas mode.

I've owned the car since brand new and it seemed really quiet when I'm driving in ECV mode. Now I'm hearing this noise and am a little concerned. As mentioned, it's there whether I'm in ECV mode or not.

With the recent releases of the first Honeycomb tablet - the Motorola Xoom and Apple's second-gen iPad 2, the tablet computer landscape is finally starting to get interesting. Motorola Xoom has became a powerful rival to iPad 2. In fact, the Motorola Xoom and the Apple iPad are very similar with regard to basic hardware design and functionality. When you break it down, the iPad 2 trounces the Xoom in almost every category. That’s not to say that the Xoom isn’t a really good tablet, but unfortunately the iPad 2 manages to wipe the floor with it in everything from design to performance.

If you live in Massachusetts, where do you service your Nissan Altima Hybrid?

Any recommandations based on personal experience are highly apprecited!

Thanks.

Hello,

Today I had a 'Service Engine Soon' ON in the morning and as soon as I arrived back home
I used an OBD code reader and found this error message:

******** 3/4/2011 7:18:25 PM ********
Stored Codes
P0448 232
P0448 Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit Shorted

--- End of list ---

Pending Codes
P0448 232
P0448 Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit Shorted

The light on the dashboard was ON for 110 miles and now is OFF.
Does anybody had a similar problem?

Thanks!

Hello!

Is any way to force Nissan Altima Hybrid to run in 'gasoline only' mode, without hardware modifications?

Thanks!

Hello everybody,

I just bought a 2011 Nissan Altima Hybrid and so far I like it a lot. The mileage during the first 500 miles was 35 on highway and 36 on the city.

My question is about the content of the tool box that sits above the spare tire in the trunk: what does it contains? Mine has a scissors jack and a lever and 2 empty spaces. Based on the shape of one of the empty spaces, one item could be a pulling hook. What is the other one? Is missing something?

Thanks,
aMIC

My 2007 Nissan Altima Hybrid has had this recurring problem since I purchased it used and I learned the original owner had the same recurring issue and other owners on the internet also. Typically when I go to start my car in the morning, after my car has sat in the garage over night, I depress the brake and the ignition button and **ALL** the warning lights come on including the EV mode ready and Service Engine light but the car has no power steering and the gas engine won't start at all. The car is drivable for about 30 seconds in EV mode then dies.

Does somebody know what would be the max distance the Altima could run working only on the hybrid battery?
Let say traveling at a constant speed of 25 mph (40 km/h). How far in distance could the car go ? (1 mile, 10 miles, 50 miles ?)
This considering the initial condition of having battery fully charged (aprox 80% of max scale).
Thanks in advance for your comments.

Hey all, I bought an Altima last June and I seem to recall the car would stay in electric alot more than it does now. I can barely (1/16 to 1/8") step on the accelerator before the engine fires up. As I am new to the hybrid system, they tell me at the dealership that the car is 'learning' my driving. Personally, I would rather that I learn the car and manage the electric/gas myself (although I'm sure nissan doesn't think that'd be a good idea). Does anyone else have this happening? and is it normal?

Rob

Am confused by all the posts on winter driving. some say great, others say terrible. Have not had my NAH out in bad weather yet, but seems like it should not be as good as my other front wheel drive vehicles have been because of the batteries in the back shift some of the weight off the front wheels. This should affect traction and performance in snow and ice. Does anyone know the front to back wheel weight ratio of hybrids compared to regular gas vehicles with all the weight over the front wheels?
