interesting. Tweet it, Like it and comment as appropriate.

What does everyone think about the EUs influence on the environment and more importantly their influence, or should i say marketing about Hybrid Cars? Personally, i have noticed a great deal about the environment, that to me seems just nation wide.
However, i came across this video the other dday which seemed to have an underlying message other than the whole 'innovation' thing (it's also quite funny) www.theinnvoativechallenge.com

I bought my 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid in January 2006 with 50,000 miles on it. It is now January 2011 and I have 264,000 miles on it. I replaced my original hybrid battery pack in December 2008 at 180,000 miles with a used battery pack that already had 64,000 miles on it. The car was running fine and the battery was working good too. Granted, I only paid $625 for it and I installed it myself. I now need to replace it again even though the car runs fine and the battery still operates correctly. This is why I had to replace my battery pack in 2008 and why I have to replace it now...

I humbly submit that Americans who achieve at least double the combined U.S. 'Corporate Average Fuel Economy' (CAFE) standards are 'Powered By America'.

Half of our petroleum fuel is imported in the U.S. So... if you get double the combined CAFE standard, you're only burning the American made half. Maybe if you burn less than half, you're 'SAVING America'?

For 2010 that's 23.5MPG, and 2011 that's 24.1MPG. VERY easy targets for hypermilers.

Hi,

Is there any available date of Hybrid sales in California per county?

I have not been able to find any.

Thank you so much!
Jesper

See... easy attention-getter! ;-)

Obviously, no such thing... and never will be. Battery powered personal vehicles are NOT our future.
Here's a solid argument WHY: http://www.jeff-shumway.com/Rethinking_HYBRIDS.php

And here's something even BETTER than hybrids, or any car for that matter: not a new toy to own or better way to drive, a better way to LIVE: http://www.jeff-shumway.com/A___E_Village.php

Hi,

I've been reading DOT HS 811 204 "Incident of Pedestrian and Bicyclist Crashes by Hybrid Electric Passenger Vehicles", NHTSA September 2009. Within its limits, this is a fine report but there have been two articles that claimed 'hybrids are 50% more dangerous to pedestrians.' One was a September 23 article in the Washington Post and the other was a recent article in a Psychology blog. But this reviewer's claim is not found in the report that sad to say, lacks one critical piece of data.

A new website, dcmonitor (dot) com, was just created with the purpose of helping citizens put pressure on the government to exercise either eminent domain or compulsory licensing for the NiMH battery technology currently owned by Chevron. Please show your support by visiting it.

A little backstory (From the book "Two Cents per Mile" by Nevres Cefo):

GM destroyed the GM EV-1, an advanced electric vehicle (EV), as soon as they managed to get the Chairman of the California Air Resources Board (CARB), Alan Lloyd, to push for the end of the zero-emissions vehicles mandate (ZEV).

Does anyone know of any reputable forecasts for how much purchases of hybrid vehicles will increase over the next 5 to 7 years? Specifically, broken out by the higher fuel efficient hybrids (over 30 to 35 mpg) and the lower fuel efficient hybrids, generally the SUVs (under 30mpg)?
