This represents an increase of 12.3 percent and the best month ever for the group.

At the conclusion of the first quarter of 2013, a grand total of 7,810 units have been sold through the Mercedes-Benz Canadian retail network.

Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and luxury light trucks recorded the best month ever in the company’s history with a total of 3,412 units sold.

Overall, passenger car sales totaled 1,903 vehicles. This is ahead 9.2 percent for the month, and was fueled by solid B-Class, C-Class and E-Class sales.

On the luxury light trucks side, a total of 1,509 units were sold. This represents an increase of 13.4 percent compared to March 2012. Vigorous demand for the new GLK 250 BlueTEC (diesel) helped boost GLK-Class deliveries by 45.1 percent in March.

The diesel take rate for luxury light trucks was 64.7 percent for the month, while permanent all-wheel drive 4MATIC units accounted for 80.4 percent of overall passenger car and light truck sales in March (excluding smart).

The small urban smart car reported a total of 111 vehicles sold in March, which equates to a 42.3 percent increase when compared to the same time period last year.

From a sustainable motoring perspective, Mercedes-Benz showcases various drivetrains within the alternative fuel category.

The all-new 2014 E400 Hybrid features a two-mode hybrid drivetrain with full electric power, combining electric power with a gasoline engine.

Both the new E400 Hybrid and the S400 Hybrid deliver seamless acceleration with superlative fuel economy and Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle certification.

The GLK250 BlueTEC will also be on display. Mercedes-Benz said it is equipped with the world’s cleanest and most advanced diesel.

The debut of diesel powertrain in this model line, the first in its segment, the GLK250 BlueTEC features a 2.1 liter four cylinder diesel engine with 190 horsepower and 369 pound-foot of torque.

In addition, Mercedes-Benz is showcasing the B-Class fuel-cell car which features renewable, zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell power. This five door, four passenger hydrogen-electric car provides 134 horsepower and 214 pound-foot of torque. The model is currently available for lease in California.
