This new Mirage is expected to arrive at Mitsubishi Motors dealers later this fall.

The all-new 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage model is estimated to achieve a fuel economy rating of 40 mpg combined/37 mpg city/44 mpg highway (CVT-equipped model; pending EPA fuel mileage rating). This would make this new subcompact the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid gasoline vehicle available in America.

In addition to its exceptional fuel economy, the all-new 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage will be offered in a convenient 5-door configuration with room for five passengers, including 7 air bag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), 4 speaker AM/FM/CD/MP3 sound system with USB/iPod input, 60/40 split folding rear seat, Active Stability Control (ASC) with Traction Control Logic (TCL), Brake Assist and Hill Start Assist (HSA) (CVT-equipped models), and 4-wheel Anti-lock brakes (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD).

The updated 2013 Optima Hybrid features a more performance-driven and fuel-efficient powertrain as well as more cargo space and premium features.

For 2013, Kia said the Optima Hybrid features numerous powertrain refinements for smoothness and drivability, including a more robust 47 horsepower electric motor, a stronger Hybrid Starter Generator (HSG) and a more powerful 47 kilowatt lithium polymer battery.

Although the combined 199 horsepower rating is slightly lower than before, reduced from 206, the combined 235 pound-feet of torque is 40 pound-feet higher. According to Kia, this will result in a more responsive and powerful Optima Hybrid.

The Optima Hybrid is now available in two trim levels in the U.S., base and EX.  The base model achieves an EPA estimated 36 mpg city, 40 mpg highway and 38 mpg combined, making the Optima Hybrid more efficient than its predecessor.

The EX model delivers an EPA estimated 35/39/37; the difference being due to additional equipment and different wheels. The EX adds, amongst others, navigation with back-up camera, an 8-speaker Infinity audio system4, panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats and 17-inch wheels.

The 2013 Optima Hybrid benefits from greater trunk space than before, thanks to the repackaging of the vehicle’s battery pack.

The Optima Hybrid builds on the gasoline-powered Optima, offering improved aerodynamics and using lighter weight components. Lighter and more aerodynamic 16- and 17-inch alloy wheels, base and EX respectively, reduce weight and drag, while superbly integrating with the Optima’s stunning design.  Extensive use of aluminum instead of steel for the lower front and rear control arms, tie rod ends and rear knuckles helps offset the weight of the hybrid components.

According to Kia, improved aerodynamics are gained via the Optima Hybrid’s lowered ride height, full belly pan and rear spoiler.  Other Optima Hybrid differentiators include satin finished front grille surround and trim on the lower front fascia and side sills, and unique front and rear lighting.

The second-generation of Versa hatchback will go on sale at Nissan’s U.S. dealerships in June 2013.

Each new Versa Note will come equipped with an advanced 1.6-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine with dual fuel injection and Twin CVTC (Continuously Variable Timing Control).

The HR16DE engine is rated at 109 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 107 pound-feet of torque at 4,400 rpm.

The Versa Note S features a 5-speed manual transmission, while the S Plus and SV models are equipped with a standard next-generation Nissan Xtronic CVT transmission.

Fuel economy for the front-wheel drive Versa Note is forecast by Nissan to deliver 40 mpg highway, 31 mpg city and 35 mpg combined for CVT-equipped models.

“As the entry segment is expanding with new models and nameplates, it’s not enough to offer value alone,” said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc. “The new Nissan Versa Note shakes up the category by satisfying both the emotional and rational needs with features that are truly unexpected in the class – such as sleek styling and advanced innovation features like our Around View Monitor parking assist system at an affordable price.”

According to Nissan,the Versa Note achieves a coefficient of drag of 0.298 for CVT-equipped models. Attention to aerodynamic detail can be seen on CVT-equipped Versa Note models with Nissan’s first-ever active grille shutter, which reduces drag by controlling airflow into the engine compartment.

Nissan said the Versa Note rides on standard 15-inch steel wheels with full wheel covers and 185/65HR15 all-season tires, while 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with 195/55HR16 all-season tires are available. Low rolling resistance tires are standard on CVT-equipped models.

The Versa Note will be offered S, S Plus and SV grade levels – along with a Convenience package, SL Package and SL Tech Package. The new Versa Note will start with a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $13,990 USD when it goes on sale in June 2013.

Full pricing details will be announced close to the on-sale date.

Eight exterior colors will be offered: Peacock Green, MorningSky Blue, Metallic Blue, Red Brick, Brilliant Silver, Magnetic Gray, Super Black and Aspen White.

The Versa Note will be assembled by Nissan Mexicana SA de CV in Aguascalientes, Mexico.
