The number of seats has nothing to do with cost… smarts have always been a bit pricey on account of their lower sales volume. Just because it’s smaller doesn’t make it cheaper to produce.

The claimed 90 miles of range (city) seems a touch optimistic when you consider that the EPA has given this car a rating of 94MPGe (city) – with a 17.6kWh pack, that equates to a real-world range of about 50 miles!

Looks like you got your wish though, with the recently announced ~$27k for the base model and $8500 rebate here in Ontario it will be <$20k… making it by far the cheapest EV for sale in Canada when it gets here.

Its just a 2 seater and has only 90 miles of range. Ideally it should sell in sub- $ 20,000 range.
