Been there, done that last year. 105-degree day in Houston and I get the “Triangle of Death” as I’m going down Highway 90A in my 2005 Prius. Had it towed to the dealer and the inverter water pump replaced under warranty. I’d heard this was a common failure in the Gen II Prius; I guess Toyota decided–post 2009 safety recalls–that the bad publicity of an almost certain failure outweighed the cost of the recall. Good for them. For me, I’m glad I got the extended warranty when I bought the car.
