I hope Porsche brings this car to production. I used to keep a picture of it in my office but pulled it down after they slowed their efforts. The cost is stiil high of course.

I am agree with the Shines. Electrical & hybrid version is good techniques to the vehicles. All most automaker used this technique in vehicles..

Porsche produced the World's First Operational Hybrid Car, according to a 27 March '06 posting on this site.

It was an '00 Porsche -- 1900, that is. Yes, that's 110 years ago, and a real Ferdinand Porsche design.

It apparently used an internal combustion engine to power two generators at the rear wheels and could travel on batteries alone. Porsche's first car, made about two years before the hybrid, was electric, and may also have been the world's first known front-drive car. Porsche has apparently done a U-turn indeed.

At best it may give 20 MPG and hardly may sell 500 units / year.
So this product will have no impact on the hybrids.

The greatest hybrid of this year is Lincoln MKZ whic has 0 $ premium over non-hybrid MKZ and it offers 41 MPG. A great effort by Ford.

If Nissan Leaf succeds as expected, it coul rattle all high-speed cars as the EV's could run faster even with a simple motor.

Electric motors provide more low end torque and faster acceleration. Hybrid and battery technology and heat reducing regenerative braking have been proven reliable. I don’t see why a high end sports car company like Porche wouldn’t use hybrid technology. Cost shouldn’t be a factor in a car like the ones displayed above.
