Set to make its official debut tonight at the 2015 New York International Auto Show, the new Cadillac CT6 was revealed early this afternoon on the Internet instead.
The photo gives us a first look at the luxury sedan’s exterior styling, showing a new profile that will fit in nicely with two other Cadillacs, the CTS and ATS.
No information on the underlying powertrain was released with the photo, though. There is a possibility that Cadillac will also be creating a plug-in hybrid version later, though it isn’t clear if the brand will discuss that during the official reveal of the CT6 later tonight.
The few details already released about the CT6 focus mostly on the frame. Built from aluminum and steel, the new body structure is 198 pounds lighter than a comparable chassis made with mostly steel.
“With the CT6, we used high-strength aluminum and high-strength steels; lightweight chassis components; we integrate aluminum and steel where it makes sense; we eliminate every gram of mass possible, while achieving world-class performance,” said Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen.
“Weight reduction helps improve fuel efficiency, contributes to desirable vehicle dynamics and aids in creating a more resilient passenger cell.”
