NYPD Goes Electric At The 9/11 Memorial Site

Two all-electric Vectrix VX-1 Law Enforcement Model motorcycles are now in use by the New York Police Department (NYPD) at the NYC 9/11 Memorial Site.

These electric bikes come in addition to the fleet of original Vectrix VX-1 that have been in use since 2007.

According to Vectrix, the all-electric Vectrix VX-1 is uniquely designed to excel in outdoor environments, functioning safetly on any surface usually traversed by traditional police motorcycles and mountain bicycles. It can even operate indoors, in airports, stadiums and other places a gas-powered vehicle simply can’t go. And do it in a nearly silent, totally sustainable, emissions-free package.

The Vectrix VX-1 is now being used by many law enforcement departments and other fleet operators all over the world: Including the Penn State University Police Department, the Amherst College Police Department, the Glasgow,, Scotland Airport Police, the London AA (Automobile Association) and even a Paris, France Taxi service.
