Created October 17, 2006, at 11:36 pm by Anonymous
I am doing it.
I have had 2 hybrids and after much thought and consideration I placed an order for a new deisel vehicle. Anyone out there have experince with a deisel? Desiel fuel versus bio deisel? What are things I should be aware of when when switching from hybrid vehicle to deisel vehicle?

I recently purchased a used VW Golf TDI 5spd - my first diesel car. I absolutely love it. Unfortunately, I've never driven a hybrid, so I can't give you a comparison. If you haven't yet, check out www.tdiclub.com for more on information VW diesels. You can also find people there that drive Mercedes diesels. Lastly, there several threads on this site comparing the two technologies. Watch out, some of the discussion gets quite heated!

I drive a vw jetta tdi great car. I get low to mid 40mpg. i drive mosty highway. the lowest i never got was just over 35mpg working for pizza hut as a driver ac on short trip city driving. safe car for the money. good luck with your diesel car. for people who can't afford a hybrid or diesel car. the honda fit and the toyota yaris are two cars that get great mpg about 40 highway. check out 40mpg.org
If you live in a warm climate, it may be OK, but the price per gallon in my area is nearly double gas.
Not true... modern diesels don't have trouble in cold climates anymore than gasoline cars do (including hybrids). Also, diesel prices don't seem to fluctuate as much as gas prices... during the so call summer driving season, diesel was cheaper than gas where I live (eastern NC)
