While the Renault-Nissan Alliance was also shuttling UN delegates at the Rio+ meeting in Brazil as well as showcasing its electrified technology from June 13-22, it also found time to do a minor spoof video.
The way Nissan puts it, “the cheeky driver of this Nissan Leaf decided to have a bit of fun and pulled up to a gas station. Brave attendants did their best to find a way to refill the car. Little did they know that Leaf is no ordinary car.”
We’re not so sure this whole thing was as extemporaneous as Nissan would like to present it, but we’ll play along.
It is true the electric car bypasses the gas station, but its U.S. sales have been less than hoped for. Nissan has said they will improve to 20,000 units this fiscal year, particularly after its Smryna, Tenn. plant begins production in December.
