Ford keeps making these knuckle-dragging RWD full-size sedans like the Town Car and the Crown Victoria largely because the livery, executive car, and law enforcement communities scream every time they talk about finally killing them, largely because all of the (significantly better) alternatives are quite a bit more expensive. They have dismal sales outside of the heavily discounted fleet sales, and they continue along on designs that are the better part of 20 years old. The amount of time they spend idling makes them the *perfect* application for hybrid technology. Hopefully more cities will follow NYC and Vancouver in pushing hybrids and finally put the nail in these dinosaurs’ coffins.

Now this the kinda stuff that government should be getting into .Taking charge of some of the congestion and making better air quality for the city. The only risk is the possible bad technology that will be sold to the taxi owners. but let the City take the hit on that kinda risk (of a lemon).This will also help weed out the true driving conditions (I use to live in the NYC ) .
