One day after the first wave of online configurations was opened for Model X reservation holders, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced a date certain: Sept. 29.
A simple message, but unclear for the deliveries at Tesla’s Fremont factory is whether these will be “Founder’s edition or also special “Signature” edition trim levels.
For many the more-important fact is that after three and a half years since the Model X was revealed Feb. 2012, it’s finally due this month.
The Model X will be priced not far above the Model S, and will reportedly come in 70-kwh, 85 kwh and 90 kwh versions.
The quickest version will zip to 60 in 3.2 seconds, says the automaker, and promise range of 240 miles.
