Lucid Motors Teases Its Air Electric Luxury Prototype

The Lucid Air electric executive car won’t be out for at least another year, but Lucid Motors continues to issue social media teasers to keep interest up.

A prototype version has been spotted in and around San Francisco. Lucid is playing off its brand image as the maker of a high-performance, luxury Tesla competitor offering a comfortable, elegant ride. You can get a taste of the photo gallery below.

The company had said the Lucid Air “executive class” sedan will create a personal luxury jet “experience.”

Startup company Lucid Motors had announced that it’s the sedan will come out with a 100 kWh battery, with a 130 kW upgrade allowing passengers to go about 400 miles on a full charge. The electric motor will be powerful – about 1,000 horsepower and capable of going 0 to 60 in about 2.5 seconds.

With a starting price just over $100,000, the first Air production models may come out some time in 2018 or into 2019. The company said it hopes to begin production in late 2018 at a $700 million factory located in Arizona.

The startup company has been in the works for about a decade, formerly known as Atieva.

Lucid is playing up on elegance with the interior experience and technology. Mixed in are elegant and sophisticated high-resolution computer displays, state-of-the-art autonomous driving capabilities, and upscale aircraft-style seating.
