New nationwide laws to discourage driving while texting are in the works, but no law will stop the rapidly expanding number of electronic devices and screens from encroaching upon the driving experience. New Lexus hybrids might provide part of the solution.

Mileage Loop: Lexus RX 450h

The updated Lexus SUV hybrid, the Lexus RX 450h, is due out later spring—with promised improvements in both performance and fuel economy compared with its predecessor. So we took out a test-loaner for a spin last week to see for ourselves. The mileage over the course of our 127-mile route was 31.6 mpg, easily beating EPA numbers.
