Infiniti will finally address its obvious lack of a flagship vehicle with this Q80 Inspiration concept, set to be revealed next week at the Paris Auto Show.
“After showing Q30 Concept and Q50 Eau Rouge, Infiniti is eager to show the upper range of our portfolio expansion,” said Alfonso Albaisa, the company’s executive design director. “In Q80 Inspiration, we wanted to capture that unforgettable feeling when you experience something important, something beautiful, something magnetic for the first time.”
The fastback sedan is nearly 200 inches long and 80 inches wide, with a 122-inch wheelbase that should provide plenty of space to the occupants. Infiniti says the Q80 has “1+1+1+1 seating” which presumably means quite defined separation between the rear-seat passengers, like the Porsche Panamera.
Technical details will be fully fleshed out during the show, but highlights include a “high-performance and efficient hybrid-electric powertrain,” autonomous driving systems and “advanced adaptive suspension.”
Whether Infiniti can translate the concept to an actual rival to the rivals like the Audi A7, BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe and Mercedes-Benz CLS remains to be seen, but fans must certainly be keeping every finger crossed that it can.
