It’s our own US government that doesn’t allow cars like this to be imported and sold in America. They make too much money off of gas taxes. Japan has had a law that no car can be imported or sold in Japan that gets less than 50 mpg for over 20 years now. There’s not a single car today that gets 50 mpg here in the U.S.

Corolla costs $15,900 and thats a base model with Manual tranny.

For Auto, add another $1,000 and it will be 16,900 and its only a 4-speed obsolete tranny. No wonder, Cruze & Elantra has overtaken Corolla in sales.

Prius has lot of extras and factor in those and Prius C will be more economical.

While Prius is #1 seller in Japan, Corolla is #6, same will happen soon in USA.

The CEO of Toyota recently stated that “Toyota’s competitiors should feel free to catch up if they feel that they are behind” he further staed that it was an imperative to all that if you can’t catch up, don’t get behind.

I wish the Aqua was imported here in the U.S. AND got 94 mpg. That would be freakin' sweet! I'd trade in my 2nd gen Prius for one in a heartbeat.

C equals "city centric" so it is the Prius city centric concept.

If the mileage is 25% better than the regular 50 MPG Prius, it will get a combined 62 MPG. Not too shabby. And if it retails for $4000 less than the regular Prius, it might have a base of about $18,500. Compare to a Corolla at $14,500.
