For sports cars, or other specialized applications, the stop-start would be the default setting that, w/the press of a button, is disabled until the button is pressed again or the engine stopped and then restarted.

What I’ve really been wondering about is what GM plans to do w/the formerly Saturn Vue PHEV? Is it still planned to be released as a Chevy a year after the Volt?

Technically it might be one, but being a ‘mild’ one it does not deserve the hybrid label since. Seems they finally got the difference and are not setting wrong expectations by using the name hybrid. The only thing that they didn’t get, is that so many people want real hybrids – I’m not paying extra money to get ‘mild’ hybrids – I want the real hybrid.

Since the electric motor assists the engine during acceleration I’d call it a mild hybrid. It will be interesting to see how competitive the pricing will be. I think Buick is one of the better cars GM makes.

As far as I am concerned, if it is price-competitive with the other carmakers’ mid-sized non-hybrids, it would a very good competitive entry because essentially, you are getting better mileage for free.

And hybridcars.com, you should take a lesson there; don’t call “microhybrids” hybrids because they’re not hybrids.
