I would love to go back to buying a gm car again but I have a 2007
Prius that I drive to work in, and take trips to PA and Florida in.The car
now has 95,000 miles on it and just oil changes, 1 set of tires and tire rotation was done to it. I am a conservitive driver, and in most conditions, I can maintain a 50 mpg economy.
Its too bad that the American car manufacturers cann't come up with
any thing as good. To me, the Volt is a specialty car, suited for short trips but I cann't afford to use a car just to get to wowk in. When the gasoline engine kicks in charge the battery on a long trip, the volt mpg goes way down.
I consistantly look at your new products to see if you have anything for me, but I donn't think so.

These small changes are good.
My big hope is for the battery to improve enough to allow for seating 3 in the back seat: only having 4 in the car is a tough limit for families.

Good improvement, I hope slowly they take the range to 50 miles.

Or better they can also reduce the battery size and price retaining the same 35 mile range. Its the competition from Prius PHV that is pushing GM for the change.

According to the EPA, the 2012 Volt has a 35 mile EV range. According to GM, it gets that utilizing 10.3 KWh which says it got 3.4 miles per KWh. Now the 2013 Volt has a 38 mile range using 10.8 KWh, which says it gets 3.5 miles per KWh. So yes, the new Volt's efficiency appears to have been increased by about 3%. Maybe the tweaked battery chemistry results in less charging or utilization losses?

I also wonder how the MPGe increased. Maybe some powertrain related software tweaks not mentioned (i.e. modified acceleration or braking profiles)?

Glad to see the electric range increase. An 8.6% increase with basically no downsides is great. I would take that year over year but I am still hoping for 50+ mpg electric range by 2015 :)

Great news... but why is the MPGe increased if the car still weighs the same and everything? The miles per KWH must still be the same correct?
