Will hybrid car prices soar too as in 2008? Or are there enough options on the market now to where the effect will be minimal?

Sometimes I wish something so drastic would happen to the market so that it would just totally ruin the life of speculators in the market.

Gas is $3.50 by me for the cheap stuff. A $4.09 average would probably make it a $4.15 to $4.20 average here. And don't you dare go downtown Chicago on an empty tank. It'll probably cost you $5.00 a gallon if prices do go up like they're predicting.

And higher prices means I'm the one that everyone wants to carpool with. Lucky me...

Last year Chinese alone have bought 18.5 million vehicles. Many more millions were purchased by India, Brazil, Russia and many other countries. But Oil supply did not increase at this rate. So naturally there will be increase in gas price.

At the same time, there are also 52 million Alternative Fueled Vehicles worldwide.

BTW, read about the Tesla Model-X, its a 7 seater SUV with 2 trunks , falcon doors and so on.

The higher the gas price the closer we live to our energy reality. We have a long way to go to move to a no growth post peak cheap oil world and society. Higher gas prices is the first step....
