Clean Diesel 101

Despite advanced in diesel technology, diesel passenger vehicles are not available in 50 states. California and other states that signed on to the California’s strict emissions standards—11 and counting—will not allow diesel vehicles until those cars and trucks meet the Environmental Protection Agency’s Tier 2, Bin 5 standard. This emissions designation—right in the middle of the range of cleanest to dirtiest—certifies that a vehicle produces fewer than 0.16 grams of smog-forming pollution per mile.
