Global oil consumption is expected to grow by approximately 35 percent by the year 2030, according to the International Energy Agency. In the same time frame, the number of cars and trucks will be approaching the two billion mark, roughly double its current level. Finding and pumping the oil for these vehicles—an additional 11 billion barrels every year—will be extremely difficult.
