@John,

I agree with you 100%. I love automakers that go and claim high 30's or low 40's on the highway mode. Great. So you're 10 mpg's lower than my Prius on the highway. That's fantastic. You want to try and achieve numbers closer to what I get in the city or combined? That's what I thought. That's what I would like to say to these automakers. lol! A combined mileage number is a much more useful number.

Amen, John 4. Lots of non-hybrids approach hybrid highway mileage, i.e. 37 to 42, but the city mileage and combined mileage comes us short.

What the Dart offers is in its $19,000 version is 39 MPG highway.

Why not compare it to the Camry or Fusion in the $23,000 price range with 35-37 highway mileage? Maybe it would compare favorably? But do not compare it with a $27,000 hybrid Camry or Fusion which gets 40 MPG city (47 is being claimed for the 2013 Fusion with the HF35 tranny).

Attn media: Can we please stop using highway mpg numbers to advertise your fuel economy? Let's just stick to the combined numbers. This car's mpg numbers list it at 32. It then compares itself to the prius; which is 50 mpg. My 2001 toyota echo gets 35 mpg combined. If you want to feature it's good ride, good acceleration, etc then have at it. But I'm not impressed with 32 mpg from this car.
