Why is dealer cost $10K >than website?

Just started researching the Hybrids since they finally came out with an SUV hybrid (still does not seem to get good enough gas mileage for me).

The Toyota Highlander was about $25-30K list on the website. Hubby went to dealer today just to look and they said $40K minimum. Why such a big difference? Are they just totally price gouging and being greedy or is there something I'm missing here?

Wish they'd make it so that middle class people can afford a decent size Hybrid :( Until then, I guess I'll just be gas-guzzling away at over $3 a gallon :(

Highlander (not hybrid) is around 30k retail but the hybrid 2WD is 35k for a base and 40k for a limited 4WD sticker price and they do get sticker. I can sell you one pretty good though if you're interested e-mail me.
