What's hybrid maint sched ?

Created March 2, 2005, at 6:05 pm by Anonymous

Hi,

Does anyone know what the maintenance schedule is for the Hybrid specific parts of the Ford Escape?

I took mine to my mechanic for an oil change. It was a slam dunk since the engine is an existing Ford engine. (Ford Focus, I think).

What about the electric systems, however?

I'm up for my 3 month check-up and was wondering what's included and if my mechanic can do it.

Thanks

I'd get that looked at for sure.

Ford Escape maintenance interval is 10000 miles.

First service is oil change and rotate tires.

Second service is oil change, rotate tires, and change battery air filter.

This is a very low maintenance vehicle.

And the engine is unique. It has been modified with the Atkinson cycle instead of Otto cycle. It uses a unique cartridge oil filter, too.

Just a note if you've not had an oil change yet. The special oil filter needed does not come with the gasket also needed. It has to be ordered separately. (The filter and gasket get replaced together.) Unfortunately, my dealer's mechanic did not know this (which was odd since he was supposed to have been trained!?) and took off the old filter and gasket before he realized they did not have a new gasket. Under no circumstances is the old gasket to be reused (Ford's reccommendation). My mechanic tried to and oil leaked everywhere (thankfully in the shop). I had to wait three days before a new gasket arrived. Imagine - three days for an oil change!

Hi Chris:
Thanks for the onfo regarding oil filter gasket. I changed the oil myself, but stopped when I realize it takes a special filter. I would have use the old gasket. I'll order out a gasket and filter.

I got a Purolator filter at Pep Boys and it came with the gasket.

I have the Purolator filter as well. Part #L15505 and it does come with the gasket. I have not yet changed the oil, but my question is how to reset the computer for another 10,000 mile cycle and get rid of the "change engine oil now" message? Also having a hard time locating a service manual...any ideas? Thanks!

John,

I just did the reset for oil change. I don't remember exactly the sequence but it wasn't difficult. Just put the INFO button until you get to something like SYSTEM CHECK. I think the first item under that is reset the oil change. The display will say OIL CHANGE 0% and RESET. You push the SET button and then it says OIL CHANGE 100%.
