What is Sony doing with recalled Li-ion

Sony has recalled a large number of Li-Ion batteries because of their fire safety problems. What is Sony going to do with them. I find it difficult to believe that they could not be recycled if used in a controlled temperature usage that had better controls on the charge / discharge rates.
If they were to be run in sealed packs with heat exchangers they could be utilized in automotive PHEV kits with controllers that limited the SOC to reasonable percentages as Toyota does with their NI-mh cells. It would allow a good deal for Sony and for those who would like a high capacity battery kit for their Toyota Synergy drive vehicle.

I think there is a general fear of "whats inside of the stuff"..
You can't recycle everything or we might poison ourselves in an attempt to clean the land..
..
I think SONY has the knowledge to deal w/it.
