As Hybrid and Hydrogen technologies gather momentum and new sources of energy are realized to replace fossil fuels, the question remains, where will the vital ingredients needed to produce these applications come from?
It is my understanding that one single Toyota Prius contains 45 lbs. of rare earths in the nickel metal hydride battery and the neodymium magnet motor.
With China currently exporting 95% of world rare earths, it seems prudent to have a strong source outside China.
Great Western Minerals Group Ltd located in Saskatoon Saskatchewan Canada is rapidly advancing what could be a world class deposit of these vital and strategic metals.
Production is scheduled for mid 2009 and the company already is producing rare earth powders at its plants located in Troy Michigan. With many technologies depending on rare earths, we are well positioned to become North America's only fully vertically integrated source of rare earth lanthanides.

Great Western Minerals Group was formerly doing business as Great Western Gold Corporation; before that it was an oil and gas company. It's kind of strange to have what is almost a stock offering here...
