    Hybrid cars, recharging the batteries

    The results of a short (~10 minutes, and not very precise) experiment:
    Charging from engine, time in seconds:
    3, 30, 19, 35, 3, 71, 53, 11, 7=>232
    Charging from wheels:
    18, 33, 2, 3, 4, 8, 8, 11, 21, 9, 3=>120

    The experiment ended when the individual taking the readings from the display started complaining about dizziness.
    What we don't know is the amps value.
    Time alone doesn't tell the whole story...

    Hybrid cars, recharging the batteries

    Dorin, I've been meaning to ask: In your most recent experiment and earlier, are your comments based on using a Prius or a Honda Civic Hybrid or what?

    And I also must comment that in the first ten or fifteen minutes of driving, there will be more charging from the engine until everything gets up to temperature and reaches steady-state conditions.

    By the way, the car was "warm" from a previous trip.
