    Anyone interested -hybrid Station Wagon?

You would think with all these posts of individuals wanting a hybrid wagon that someone is listening...

Until then, my wife and I will have to jam everything into our civic.

Add another "yes please" to the list of responders. We have a 13 month old and another on the way in the new year. I cringe when I think of how little "cargo room" will be left in our prius when we add the second car seat and upgrade to a double stroller.

It's so nice to find others who are looking for a hybrid wagon! I don't want or need an SUV but I do need a 5 door, and the Prius, great car that it is, is just too small. A Corolla wagon or hybrid Outback size vehicle would be great!

Yes, we have been waiting for a hybrid station wagon as well. Our old Accord Wagon is aging and we want a hybid. Everyone at the same time now. "HYBRID WAGON, HYBRID WAGON, HYBRID WAGON!" Is there a way to send these responses to Toyota and Honda?

Hybrid Wagon - I have 2 aging parents and occasionally need to drive them with my 2 boys and husband. I need a hybrid wagon with those ocassional seats in the back - or . . .How about we bring back the bench seat in front - some of the bigger cars still have them. We could shove one more person in there . . .

My favorite car of all time was my 97 Ford Escort Wagon, great little car. I am waiting for a small hybrid station wagon such as a civic, or a toyota corolla or the Ford Focus to come out. I would buy it, love those small station wagons that get good gas mileage.

I spoke with Honda in 2003 requesting a hybrid station wagon, their response was "...we no longer make station wagons since introducing the CRV. We hope to introduce a hybrid CRV soon."

I think our best bet is Toyota or Subaru, though I would love to see the Saturn LW200 or LW300 as a hybrid - environmentally friendly & affordable!

I keep hearing things as far as Subaru and hybrids are concerned. Last I heard is that Subaru is getting hybrid technology from Toyota in exchange for the extra production capacity at Subaru's Lafayette, Ind. plant. I hear Camrys are going to be built there. And the timelines I've heard, (please note this isn't solid information) is that Subaru intends on releasing a diesel powertrain in Europe in 2007 and a hybrid in Japan in 2008. This doesn't help those of us in the U.S. much, but if those work out, I have to imagine it wouldn't be long after that before we saw them releasing those cars here.

I also think it's a matter of a couple of years before we see the hybrid wagons. But I do think there is a backlash against SUV's, hybrid or otherwise, but still a need for more space than a Prius. Families with kids need places for strollers and multiple carseats. I sooo don't want a minivan, or an SUV... so I too am holding out for a hybrid wagon. Don't know how I feel about diesel (referring to VW wagons).

How about an old GM diesel wagon from the 80's? They also have Mercedes-Benz diesel wagons from the same time period.

MBZ no longer imports the diesel wagon into the US, but if we all write them enough letters, they will consider doing so.

This seems like your best hope.
