CA DMV Clean Air Stickers SUCK!

    >Good hybrid Article in today's San Jose Mercury News:

    >Caltrans: Limit hybrids in carpool lane

They can just post time limit on solo carpool on certain sections of the congested freeways, rather than just stop the whole program.

CA DMV Clean Air Stickers SUCK!

    Received my stickers today...

    8/17 purchased car
8/22 sent in application without license plate number
9/7 called dealer for license plate number
9/8 mailed another application with license plate number
9/9 check from first app showed cashed as of 9/8 but according to the check image, it was date stamped on 9/6
9/11 received stickers AND license plates! sticker #749xx was issued on 9/7, envelope postmarked on 9/8

Hope the dates make sense, gets a little jumbled on 9/6.

According to my actual number, there are less than 50 left...

Good luck to those still waiting.

Check cashed two weeks ago; no stickers yet, but DMV says processing now averages 4 weeks from date check is cashed. Standing by my mailbox, stickerhound.

CA DMV Clean Air Stickers SUCK!

Looking at these last few sharing of sticker timelines, and also going back at my previous post on 8/23 which I stated it was getting down to the last week or so to appply, it appears my prediction was accurate.

    From 8/23...

"People buying there cars now who do not rush the licence plate issue through the DMV, would be receiving their sticker's one month from now, which might be too late (~76,xxx).

If you buy a car this week, you need to rush the licence plate through and not wait the normal 2+ weeks. I'm guessing that is the only way you will make it. Even so, in my opinion it's going to be close.

My guess is anyone buying their cars next week or the week after will not have a chance, even if they do put a rush on their licence plate processing."

Experiences shared here show that people buying just prior to my posting on 8/23 are getting stickers issued in the 74xxx range.

Curious to see if in the next few week or so, any stickers above #75,000 will be issued, because we are definitely heading towards that number.

CA DMV Clean Air Stickers SUCK!

    Question to anyone:

I forgot my fastrak transponder at home and I crossed the carpool lane. I have the stickers, any ideas on whats gonna happen?

Most likely, the toll booth camera will record your license plate and you will be still be billed via your fastrak account.

i doubt anything will happen. most cars (non-hybrid) cross in carpool lanes don't have a transponder. if you have 2 or 3 people onboard, you don't need to display a transponder. and i doubt their camera can count the passenger numbers. so if you weren't caught on the spot, you probably wouldn't never know.
