    new Lithium Ion technology...

Try taking a Lithium Battery to 130 celcius and experience what is known as "Thermal Runaway"
A fire or explosion reaction which can not be stopped. Lithium batteries will never be used in vehicles for this reason. They are not all weather.
Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) batteries are also the only batteries which are environmentaly friendly in that they can be disposed of in the local land fill.

Um, this is the reason Valence is bringing their version of the Li-ion battery to market for transportation appliications. The Prius Plus conversion should be available in 2006 (initially in CA).

The whole point is that THEIR batteries don't do thermal runaway. Besides, my HiHy has a separate battery-colling radiator - -so far so good.

I don't know how the Prius or Honda batteries deal with heat.
