    Highlander Hybrid observation.

I have noticed that if you start your car and do not stop initially for a period of 10 - 25 seconds the hybrid will only use the gas engine and not just soley run on the electric motors.

As soon as I stop for this period the gas engine shuts down it will use the electric motors.

Any Highlander hybrids owners noticed this?

Wondering if its just my vehicle doing this or if others has this issue, then is this by design or is it a defect.

    Thanks in advance.

It will also start and run for 30 seconds or so after READY when the engine is cold, even if you don't shift out of park.

I think it's warming up - probably the cat. converter.

I wish Toyota would publish these observations and let us know what the car is doing. This to avoid the questions.
