    oil indicator on Honda Civic

Can someone tell me what the oil readout (%) means on my Civic Hybrid? A service rep told me that it indicated the remaining viscosity of the oil, and that when it reached 10% it was time for an oil change. I have put over 5000 miles on the car since my last change, and it's showing 40%. If it's actually measuring viscosity, I assume use of a full synthetic would be better in terms of the frequency of changes.

    the group found that most

the group found that most hybrids fail to live up to their potential. Though nine of the top ten hybrid models offer fuel economy of greater than 30 mpg and score better than average on the report card, many gas-electrics are far from being a good value proposition.Consulting Blog

the oil % is how much "life"

the oil % is how much "life" is left before you need to change the motor oil and filter. Typically, they recommend synthetic fluid, which lasts longer, but who waits that long to change oil, synthetic or not??
