    2007 Prius stereo

    Hi,
Does anyone out ther have an opinion on the sound quality of the JBL 9-speaker system in the 2007 Packages #3-#6 vs. the cheaper Pkg. #2 with a different 6-speaker system? I've read the JBL in the 2004 Prius had poor sound quality, and I'm just wondering if it might be better to go for the Pkg. #2 and add an after-market stereo (if that's even possible in a Prius?) or amplifier. Thanks for any advice!

I would say the stereo is typical stock quality. I wasn't impressed by full volume so if you want a bumping stereo I'd go for an after market.

I have a 2006 Prius with the expensive optional package. I think it is a #7 or 8. I also have the JBL 9 speaker system and it does not sound that great. I thought it might just be me, but when I drive my 2003 Hyundai Sonata that stereo system is powerful. Much better than the Prius.

Does anyone have experience with installing an after-market integrated satellite radio in a Prius (i.e., one that uses the multi-function display). This is the only place I see offering it and you have to do the install yourself (but it looks like they give you pretty good instructions). My Prius that I will be getting soon has option package #1 (supposedly not satellite ready), but it looks from this website like that's not an issue. I'm wondering if others have tried this and if they can share their experience (good or bad). One concern I have is, would installing it yourself void the warranty on the entire multi-function display system? Thanks!

    Satellite questions

I just bought a 2007 Prius with satellite radio capability- but I have no clue how to hook it up. We have a Sirius subscription with the car docking radio etc. but I don't know how it works when combined with a " satellite capable" car. My dealer hardly knew what a satellite radio was in the first place. Any thoughts would be appricated!

    Aftermarket Radio or Speakers?

I am looking at a new Prius and I was leaning towards option package #3 mainly due to the upgraded radio. However now I am not sure if the option package #2 would be the best value and then add aftermarket audio system. Is it any more difficult to install audio system in a Prius than non-hybrid cars? Is it the speakers that should replaced or the receiver or both? Has anyone any recomendation for an aftermarket audio sytems? Any ideas or suggestion would be helpful

    Thanks

    touch of grey,
If you want a really loud and crisp system I wouldn't try to cut corners. New radio and new speakers if you ask me.

After getting my Prius Touring with option # 6 home last night, I am glad I didn't back down for option #2 because the whole audio system is just so complicate.

I know I wouldn't pay big bucks to have some non-Toyota specialist to mess up my car so that he can "learn" how to install the after market system to any Prius. I won't let my Prius to become a lab rat.

    Just my thought.

Is there a way to have an aftermarket head-unit interface with the heads up display in a 2007 Prius? I have already installed the xm kit and it interfaces with the heads up unit beautifully.

    Rented a Prius with the

Rented a Prius with the delux 9 speaker system. Bought the 6 speaker system.

Both seem a little "flat" in the midrange. BUT... given the high ambient sound level in a car, you are an #$%^ to expect concert quality audio in a motor vehicle.

Even one that runs as quiet as the Prius.

My opinion: 9 speaker is a sales pitch to grab your money. Next year it will be a 14 speaker system!
