Removing Factory Stereo in 2007/2008 Prius?

Created October 2, 2007, at 10:25 am by ChrisHenry

Does anyone have any experience removing the factory stereo in a 2007 or 2008 Prius? I bought a 2008 (Package2) last night and want to install a Parrot aftermarket Bluetooth module. To do it, I've got to pull the factory stereo out to get to some of the components at the back of it.

In case you're wondering why I didn't go with package 5 or 6, it's because in my wife's '05 Prius, the navigation system is very sub-par (compared with my Garmin Nuvi), and the bluetooth connection isn't all that great either. Additionally, the Parrot kit will set me back a total of $200, which is a lot less than the factory option.

Anyway, if anyone's got any advice on where to find this type of info, I'd greatly appreciate it. I've already checked to see if Crutchfield has one of their "mastersheets" done for a 07/08 Prius, but they don't even have the '07 version done yet.

Thanks,
-Chris
