Really short waiting list (NC). Got it in a week.

After having two bad experiences with local Toyota dealers (who wanted $5,000 over sticker), I went to Toyota of Greenville (SC) who was happy to put me on a 6-8-month waiting list for a $500 refundable deposit and no fees over the sticker. http://toyotaofgreenville.com.

Then to my total surprise, I got a phone call from an Internet dealer about 160 miles from here. They had responded to a request for quote I typed in some Internet car site saying they would put me on the waiting list for $500 and the list was 2 years. Because I was on this local list with a shorter wait, I hadn't bothered to make a deposit with them.

Well the guy (Todd) called and told me that they got two Priuses in, sold one, and I was on top of the list for the other one. I ended up paying $1000 over the sticker price for package # 9, but it's sticker price was $2700 less than sticker on one available here locally that was utterly bloated with distributor-added options. So it turned out to be less expensive paying the $1000 than paying MSRP for a pimpmobile.

They delivered the car this afternoon. It is "so cool". The dealer is Modern Toyota of Winston-Salem NC, http://www.moderntoyota.com. If you talk to Todd Keyes and mention me (Kevin Davidson), they'll send me $50 when you buy a car. If 560 of you do that, my car will be almost paid for! :wink:
